Paducah man charged with raping a child

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department arrested and charged a man for raping a child under the age of 12 on Wednesday.

An investigation began June 6 when the sheriff’s department was contacted by a local pediatrician.

The pediatrician said a child had tested positive for a sexually transmitted infection.

The child identified the suspect as 32-year-old Samuel David Wayne Hunter. He is an acquaintance of the family.

Hunter consented to a blood test which showed he was positive for the same sexually transmitted infection as the child.

Hunter is charged with rape in the 1st degree and was taken to the McCracken County Jail.

An investigation is ongoing.
