Failure to stop at red light causes crash at McCracken County intersection

Two people were sent to the hospital after they crashed in McCracken County Wednesday afternoon.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened around 4:35 p.m. at the intersection of US 60 and Metropolis Lake Road.

Deputies say 35-year-old Jennifer Jones of La Center was attempting to cross US 60 northbound and turn west towards Ballard County. That was when Jones’ minivan was hit on the driver’s side by another minivan.

Deputies say 30-year-old Kunjal Patel was driving the other minivan eastbound on US 60, failed to stop at a red light at the intersection, and hit Jones as she was crossing.

Jones and her daughter were taken to a local hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

Patel and his three passengers were not injured.
