Juvenile dies after car crashes into bicycle
UPDATE: The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office has released more information about a fatal wreck in which a car hit a boy on a bicycle Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies say a car driven by 24-year-old Kensey Lee of Benton, Kentucky, was headed southbound on Murray Highway when Lee saw two boys riding bikes on the highway and an adult walking the other direction. They say Lee tried to go around the boys, but one of them rode in front of the car and was hit from behind.
The crash is being investigated by a Marshall County Sheriff’s Office crash reconstructionist.
A male juvenile has died after he was hit by a car while riding a bicycle on Murray Highway near Hardin, Kentucky, according to Marshall County Sheriff Kevin Byars.
The crash happened around 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Byars says the car was southbound on Murray Highway, and the driver saw the bicycle as the car topped a hill. He says the driver steered into the northbound lane to avoid the bicyclist, but she told deputies the juvenile crossed into the path of the car.
The bicyclist was taken to Marshall County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
