Hollywood legend Garry Marshall dies at 81
Garry Marshall was a writer and director working on TV hits like "Happy Days" and "Laverne & Shirley" died in a hospital in Burbank, California Tuesday night.
His publicist says Marshall suffered from complications from pneumonia after having a stroke.
Fans and Hollywood stars are taking to social media to remember the Hollywood legend. Marshall broke into showbiz in the late 1950’s as a joke writer as he earned his way to becoming a writer on The Tonight Show with Jack Pear. He adopted his first TV hit in 1970 with The Odd Couple. He created the sitcome Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley and Mork & Mindy.
He moved from the TV stage to film in 1984 with his first hit The Flamingo Kid followed by Overboard in 1987 and Beaches in 1989. If you’ve seen Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride and The Princess Diaries then you know Marshall worked on those hits as well.
Garry Marshall was 81 years old.
