KSP investigating murder/accidental death in fire at Calloway County home

Kentucky State Police say a woman found dead in a house fire was shot before the fire was started.

On Tuesday, troopers were called to a house fire on Cedar Haven Drive in Calloway County.

Inside the home, they found the body of Linda Whittenberg. She had two gunshot wounds.

Later, they found the body of a man in a detached garage at the back of the home. The identity of the man has not been released because troopers are having problem finding next of kin.

Troopers say the man shot and killed Whittenberg, and killed a dog before setting the home on fire.

The man then died of smoke inhalation. His death is being ruled accidental.

An investigation is ongoing.
