Artist of Wacinton to help stabilize sculpture

Volunteers are needed to help restore a large wooden sculpture in Paducah.

The Paducah Park Services Department has invited the original artist of Wacinton back to the city to help stabilize the deteriorating sculpture.

In November, a large portion of the headdress fell onto the ground. The headdress is now in storage. The sculpture also has internal rot.

The artist, Peter "Wolf" Toth will be in the city on Tuesday, July 26 to assess the damage. He plans to clean it out, stabilize it, and seal it.

Toth says he has worked to fix other deteriorating sculptures he has created in other states.

Toth is looking for volunteers with sculpting and/or woodworking skills to help him. If you would like to volunteer, please call the Parks Department at (270) 444-8508.

Wacinton is located on Park Avenue in Noble Park next to the tennis courts and the Robert Cherry Civic Center.
