2 arrested in Livingston County burglary case

Two teens have been arrested in connection with a burglary and theft investigation in Livingston County, the sheriff’s department says.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department says 18-year-old Logan Hart and 19-year-old Johnny Chittenden, both of Smithland, were arrested Friday.

Deputies say the investigation began early Wednesday morning after a pole barn was burglarized and a 2012 Polaris Ranger utility task vehicle was stolen. They say the vehicle was used to push the public restroom facility at Berry’s Ferry into the river.

In addition to that incident, the two teens are accused of entering an unoccupied home on Bethel Hill Road. The Polaris was wrecked about 6 miles miles from the scene of the burglary, deputies say.

Hart and Chittenden were each charged with one count of third degree burglary and one count of theft by unlawful taking over $10,000. Deputies say more charges will likely be filed.
