8 injured in 5 vehicle crash
The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department says eight people were injured in a five-vehicle wreck that blocked Blandville Road Friday morning.
Blandville Road is part of U.S. 62, and the wreck happened at the 4 mile marker. It blocked traffic in both directions.
Deputies say 77-year-old Edward Rice of Wickliffe was headed westbound on Blandville Road when he stopped for a vehicle in front of him. A vehicle driven by 69-year-old Tommy Osteen of Clinton was behind Rice. Another vehicle, driven by 31-year-old Max Robinson of Mounds City, Illinois, hit the rear of Osteen’s vehicle, knocking it into Rice’s vehicle.
Another driver, 50-year-old Harry Garner of Wickliffe, was also westbound when he encountered the wreck. Deputies say he swerved to the left to avoid the wreck and then backed his vehicle back in line behind Robinson’s. Then, deputies say a vehicle driven by 64-year-old Beulah Moreland of Lovelaceville was unable to stop and struck Garner’s vehicle, knocking it into the rear Robinson’s vehicle.
Osteen was taken to Baptist Health Paducah. A passenger in Robinson’s vehicle, 36-year-old Amanda Harned of Paducah, was taken to Lourdes hospital. Garner and his passenger, 46-year-old Deana Garner of Wickliffe, were taken to Lourdes. Moreland was taken to Baptist Health Paducah. 42-year-old Lola Doyle, 8-year-old Beulah Doyle, and 16-year-old Sabrina Doyle, all of Paducah, were passengers in Moreland’s vehicle. They were taken to Lourdes.
Deputies described the injuries of everyone hurt in the wreck as non-incapacitating. Rice was not injured.
Blandville Road was closed for about an hour and a half for investigation and cleanup of the wreck site.
