Body found after fire, arson suspected

Investigators with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation say arson could be the cause of a fire at a local Dollar General where a body was discovered.

Police Chief Don Teal says crews were called to a fire early Wednesday morning at the store on Regina Street in Martin, Tennessee.

"During that fire investigation, they determined that there was an unidentified body inside," says Teal.

Investigators spent all of Wednesday processing the crime scene, trying to determine what happened to the person found dead inside the store. Teal says they’re looking into every possibility, including foul play.

"We try not to guess," says Teal. "We try to put together the evidence and determine."

Teal says multiple agencies are helping in the investigation, including the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Police have yet to release a name.
