Police identify woman found dead in Martin store

Police have released the name of a person whose body was found by responders to a fire at a Dollar General in Martin, Tennessee, Wednesday. 

The Martin Police Department says 59-year-old Ruby Rachel Tackett of Lee Street in Martin was found in the store early Wednesday morning. 

Employees there have told us she was the manager of the store. She had been there for many years and was known to go in early. 

The fire was reported around 5 a.m. Wednesday, and investigators found Tackett’s body inside. 

Wednesday, Police Chief Don Teal told Local 6’s Brianna Clark that, in addition to the police department, agencies helping in the investigation include the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

TBI investigators said Wednesday that the fire may have been caused by arson. 

On Thursday, the police department says the multi-agency investigation is ongoing. We will bring you new details as new information is released.
