McCracken County deputy jailer charged with assault

A McCracken County deputy jailer will appear in court next month on charges he assaulted an inmate.

The warrant issued for Charles Reed’s arrest says on July 12 he intentionally kicked the jail cell flap closed while an inmate’s head was sticking out.

That inmate, Ryan Mayfield, told Kentucky State Police the flap hit his head causing redness and reportedly chipped one of his teeth.

An arraignment scheduled Thursday for Reed was postponed until August 18.
