Texas police trying to identify shooter

The Austin, Texas, police chief says his department is working to identify and arrest the person responsible for the shootings in an entertainment district.

Chief Art Acevedo said in a statement Sunday that the department urges people who have video of the shooting or the aftermath to send it to police via email.

Police received reports of gunshots about 2 a.m. Sunday. One woman was pronounced dead at the scene, three others were taken to a hospital and a fifth declined to be taken to the hospital.

Austin Police Chief of Staff Brian Manley said earlier Sunday that officials are trying to determine who the shooter is and didn’t rule out one of them might have been taken to the hospital.

Acevedo also said that the departments extend "our deepest condolences" to the family and friends of the young woman who died. Authorities have not identified the victims.
