A Carbondale police officer was shot last night. The officers were investigating gunshots when they started a chase with a tan car. A suspect in the tan car shot back at the police car, hitting one of the officers. The officer was last listed in serious condition.
Crews are battling a massive wildfire near California’s Big Sur. The wildfire has destroyed 57 homes and 11 outbuildings and is threatening 2,000 more structures. It was 18 percent contained Sunday morning.
A hot air balloon hit high-tension power lines on Saturday, killing all 16 on board. The crash, which happened in central Texas, is being called by federal authorities as the worst such disaster in U.S. history.
Five Russians were killed when their helicopter was shot down in Syria. The Russian Defense Ministry says in a statement that the Mi-8 helicopter was shot down on Monday in Idlib province while returning to the Russian air base on the coast after delivering humanitarian goods to the city of Aleppo.
The I-24 westbound exit 25B ramp to the Purchase Parkway northbound will be closed tonight at 6:00 p.m. A message board will be in place to help you get around the construction.
