Carbondale police release name of injured officer
Carbondale police have released the name of an officer who was injured when he was shot Sunday night.
The Carbondale Police Department says 26-year-old Trey Harris has been released from a St. Louis area hospital where he was being treated after the shooting incident. The police department says it waited until it had Harris’ family’s permission before it released his name Tuesday afternoon.
The department notes that the family also wants the public to know that no official or authorized fundraising accounts or efforts have been established for him, online or elsewhere.
The department says that, because so many people have asked about fundraising for the officer, it is requesting — after consulting with the family — that anyone who wants to donate to Harris make donations to the CPD Injured Officers Fund at the Carbondale Public Safety Building.
