Carbondale police release photo of officer shot July 31

The Carbondale Police Department has released a photo of the officer who was shot the night of July 31.

The department released the photo on Wednesday, Aug. 3. The day before, police announced that 26-year-old Trey Harris had been released from a St. Louis area hospital where he was being treated after the shooting incident.

The police department says it is assisting with a taskforce investigation team led by the Illinois State Police, and assisted by numerous other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, investigating the shooting.

Police say you can donate to Harris through the CPD Injured Officers Fund in person at the Carbondale Public Safety Building, or by mail to:

City of Carbondale Police Department
“CPD Injured Officers Fund”
501 South Washington Street
Carbondale, Illinois 62901

The department says it will hold the donations in escrow and they will be provided directly to Harris in their entirety, or to an official fundraising account if one is established.
