Benjamin Comer captured

The Massac County Sheriff’s Office says 26-year-old Benjamin Comer was captured.

Illinois State Police and Massac County sheriff’s deputies have been looking for Comer since Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office says just after 11:00 a.m. a neighbor called in saying a man matching Comer’s description on Unionville Road.

Officers arrived to the area within minutes of the call and found Comer walking on Unionville Road. He was taken into custody without incident.

Comer received medical treatment at the scene and was then taken to the Massac County Sheriff’s Office.

He will be charged with aggravated home invasion, theft of a firearm, and criminal property damage. Additional charges may be filed.

Comer is being held without bond until his first court appearance on Monday.

We have a crew on the scene and will update this story as we get more information.
