Dorena-Hickman Ferry to close for dredging

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry will be closed Friday because of dredging planned in the Hickman Harbor, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

KYTC says there isn’t enough room for the ferry to navigate safely when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is dredging the harbor. The dredge is expected to go on for 14 days. The method being used may allow the ferry to operate, and it may only be closed for a couple of days.

The ferry will be shut down Friday, then conditions will be evaluated each day to determine whether it can operate.

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry connects Kentucky 1354 at Hickman, Kentucky, with Missouri Route A and Route 77 near Dorena, Missouri.
