Tennessee man drowns in southern Illinois lake

Pope County Illinois Sheriff Jerry Suits tells Local 6 a 20 year-old man from Tennessee died in a drowning at One Horse Gap Lake.

Sheriff Suits says deputies received a call around 2pm Saturday and were told three men were swimming in the lake when one of them went under water.  Several people were on the lake, but could not save him.

The man’s body was found three hours later in about 10 feet of water.  Sheriff Suits says the drowning appears to be accidental with no signs of foul play.  The man’s name has not been released.
