Former judge asked to mediate William Wheeler case

The commonwealth attorney on Tuesday requested that former judge Dennis Foust be a mediator in the case of a man facing manslaughter charges regarding a fatal wreck that happened in Marshall County in December.

William Wheeler faces manslaughter and other charges after police say he crossed the center line on Highway 641 in Marshall County in December and hit a mini van head on. That crash killed 80-year-old Jane Poe.

Some of Poe’s family members said they wanted to explore options other than a trial, once they learned Wheeler is willing to accept responsibility for his actions.

There is no set date as of Tuesday for when Wheeler will return to court.
