Two TN residents arrested as part of investigation into stolen utility trailers
Two Tennessee residents were arrested in Kentucky as part of an investigation into the theft of utility trailers.
On Wednesday, Marshall County Sheriff’s deputies were investigating two suspects selling stolen utility trailers in Marshall County.
Deputies say the suspects, Joey Calhoun of Reeves, Tennessee, and Shellie Tidwell of Union City, Tennessee, were attempting to sell a 16 foot tandem axle trailer.
Portions of the utility trailer had been recently spray painted black and deputies found burglary tools inside.
Deputies also contacted a person from Marshall County who had recently purchased a different utility trailer from Calhoun. That trailer had been reported stolen in Marshall County. Deputies are returning that stolen trailer to its owner.
Calhoun and Tidwell were arrested on drug charges. Both were charged with possession of controlled substance 1st degree-meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were taken to the Marshall County Jail.
Deputies say Calhoun will face additional charges for the theft of the trailer.
Detectives are working with Tennessee and Kentucky law enforcement agencies to identify additional victims of utility trailer thefts.
