Illinois woman injured in crash after hitting concrete culvert and going airborne
A Zeigler, Illinois woman was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital after she crashed her SUV Thursday morning.
Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a crash on Illinois Route 149 near the intersection with Freeman Spur Road around 6:07 a.m.
29-year-old Kelcey Dick was driving east on Route 149 when her SUV left the road on the right side, went into a ditch and hit a concrete culvert. After hitting the culvert, the SUV went airborne before overturning and landing on its top.
Dick was taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to a St. Louis area hospital. Two passengers in the SUV were not injured.
Deputies say citations are pending for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and for operating an uninsured vehicle.
