Olympian with local ties finishes 8th in steeplechase

A granddaughter of a former WPSD engineer competed in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Colleen Quigley ran in the Women’s 3,000 meter Steeplechase final on Monday.

Quigley is the granddaughter of former WPSD engineer Jerry Quigley.

Quigley had a unique path to the Olympics.

She started out working as a fashion model before deciding she wanted to focus on competitive racing instead.

On Monday she finished 8th in the final race.

This is the first Olympics that Quigley has competed in.
