Portion of Cape Girardeau street to close for work on hotel

A portion of Broadway in Cape Girardeau will be closed for approximately two weeks.

The city says contractors will be working on the former Marquette Hotel, cleaning and painting the front of the building.

To do that Broadway Street will be closed between Fountain and Lorimier starting on Thursday.

Detours will be set up around the block south on Fountain to Themis Street, from Themis to Lorimier, and then from Lorimier to Broadway.

At the same time a contractor from AT&T will work on manholes on Broadway between Lorimier and Spanish Street.
