New details released in Fort Campbell active shooter incident

The 101st Airborne Division has released more information regarding an active shooter situation that happened Thursday morning at Fort Campbell. 

The 101st says the soldier allegedly fired two gunshots at 11:30 a.m. at Fort Campbell’s Hangar 8. Installation law enforcement responded, and pursued the soldier as he fled in his private vehicle. During the chase, the 101st says the soldier hit another vehicle on his way to his on-post home. Once there, he tried to run away from his vehicle and was caught by law enforcement. 

The 101st has not yet named the soldier, but it says he is in custody of the Army Criminal Investigative Division at Fort Campbell.
