Carbondale police investigate two Saturday shootings

Carbondale police are investigating two shootings incidents Saturday.

The first happened just after 1am when officers were conducting foot patrols in the 500 block of South Illinois Avenue when they heard gunshots and found a man with a gunshot wound.

The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Carbondale Memorial Hospital and identified three possible suspects.  The victim is in stable condition.

Police have not released the names of the possible suspects because of the ongoing investigation. 

Police where then called to Memorial Hospital around 1:15pm in reference to a gunshot victim.  Officers say the victim continues to receive treatment and is considered in stable condition.

Police have not said whether these two incidents are related.  We will update this story when we learn more.
