2 die in motorcycle crash in Jackson County, IL

SUNDAY UPDATE:  Deputies the say two people who were killed are William Skelton, 34, of Johnston City and Heather Basenberg, 27, of Du Quoin.

ORIGINAL STORY:  Two people were killed in Jackson County, Illinois when they were thrown from their motorcycle.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Vaughn Road and Jimmy Lane in De Soto just after 8am Sunday.

They say two people, who were on a motorcycle, were driving westbound on Vaughn Road and failed to negotiate a turn.  The motorcycle left the road and hit a tree, causing the two to be thrown from it.

The names of the two people who died, a man and a woman, have not been released.
