Two killed in crash in Massac County

Two people died in a two-vehicle crash in Massac County, Illinois around 6:56 p.m. Monday.

Illinois State Police say 33-year-old Brittany Miller of Brookport was driving a pickup truck south on Pell Road when she went through a stop sign at the intersection of Unity School Road and hit a SUV being driven by 26-year-old Justin Oliver of Metropolis.

There was no stop sign for Oliver on Unity School Road.

Miller was ejected from the pickup. She was not wearing a seat belt. Two children, a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old, were also in Miller’s pickup. Both children were in child safety seats. All three were taken to a local hospital. Miller died at the hospital. The children had non-life threatening injuries.

Oliver had to be extracted from his SUV. He was also not wearing a seat belt and was declared dead at the scene.

The crash is still under investigation.
