Identity released of man who died in ultralight plane crash

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of Tuesday’s ultralight plane crash as 39-year-old Jason Pearson of McLeansboro.

The sheriff’s office got a call of a plane crash just before 4:00 p.m.

The crash was near North Chestnut Lane and East Liberty Road about a half mile south of the Mt. Vernon Outland Airport.

Pearson was declared dead at the scene.

Jefferson County Coroner Eddie Joe Marks says an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

The Federal Aviation Administration will be conducting an investigation into the crash.
