The Islamic State claimed responsibilities for one of four blasts in Syria this morning. 38 people died in those blasts. Government and military posts were targeted in each town.

Tropical storm Newton is off Mexico’s Pacific coast this morning. Forecasters expect the center of the storm to be near or over the peninsula tomorrow morning. By then forecasters expect it to become near-hurricane intensity.

The National Weather Service now reports that Hermine has maximized sustained winds of 70 miles per hour and even higher gusts. That is causing dangerous tides and rip currents.

Bernie Sanders will be campaigning for his former rival today. Sanders is holding a rally in New Hampshire where he is expected to talk about Clinton’s economic plan.

You and your family can celebrate Labor Day with the parade in downtown Paducah. It starts at 9:30 a.m. and will travel from Broadway at 2nd Street to Fountain Avenue. The roads will be closed during the parade.
