Illinois schools evacuated due to manhunt

Students at Maple Grove Elementary School and Joppa High School in Massac County, Illinois have been evacuated because of a manhunt.

High school principal Landon Sommer says the students were dismissed around 8:15 a.m.

A mass text was sent out to parents informing them of the situation.

Massac County Sheriff Ted Holder says this manhunt is not related to the manhunt in Union County, Illinois.

Holder says this manhunt started as a domestic incident and led to a car chase.

That car chase ended in Joppa after the suspect ran from his car.

Deputies are looking for Justin Lamer.

We will be updating this story.
