Murphysboro man airlifted to St. Louis hospital after golf cart and motorcycle crash

A Murphysboro man was taken to a St. Louis hospital after being involved in a crash between a golf cart and a motorcycle.

Illinois State Police say the crash happened at 10:00 a.m. on Illinois Route 149.

Troopers say a golf cart, being driven by 61-year-old Howard Mileur of Murphysboro, was in a private drive and attempting to cross Illinois Route 149.

45-year-old Sean Gardner, also of Murphysboro, was riding a motorcycle west on Illinois Route 149. Troopers say Gardner was attempting to pass a vehicle in a no passing zone when the golf cart tried to cross the road.

The golf cart hit the broadside of the motorcycle, ejecting both drivers.

Gardner was taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to a St. Louis University Hospital.

Mileur refused treatment at the scene.

Mileur was cited with failure to yield (private drive). Gardner was cited with disobeying no passing zone.
