Murray man charged with insurance fraud

A Murray man has been arrested and charged with insurance fraud.

On August 21, 32-year-old William Nelson reported to the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office that his Ford F150 truck was taken from his home without his knowledge.

The pickup was found on fire on Collins Road in the Kirksey area.

An investigation began and it was determined through a series of events that the fire was suspicious.

According to the investigation, the truck was allegedly taken from the home while the family was inside the apartment.

Deputies say the truck was set on fire, and that within 20 hours of the fire, an insurance claim was filed by Nelson.

Nelson was arrested on a warrant for burning personal property to defraud insurer.

The investigation is still ongoing.
