Two children injured when car hit Paducah school bus

Paducah police have released more information on a collision involving a school bus that happened early Thursday afternoon at the intersection of 13th Street and Park Avenue.

Police say two of the 18 preschool students on the school bus were taken to a local hospital, but their injuries were reportedly not life threatening.

Police say 29-year-old Erica Wooldridge was driving the Paducah Independent Schools bus southbound on 13th Street when she started to make a right turn onto Park Avenue. Police say the bus driver told them as she swung the bus out to make the turn, a car behind her pulled onto the shoulder and tried to make a right turn.

The car hit the bus’ rear wheel on the passenger side.

Officers say the driver of the car, 44-year-old Ylu Reese of Bowling Green, told them he thought the bus was going straight through the intersection. Neither driver was reported injured.

The names of the children taken to the hospital have not been released.
