Man hit by truck in Murray parking lot

Murray police say a man was taken to a local hospital after he was hit by a truck in a parking lot Thursday morning.

Police say an officer saw the incident, which happened around 10 a.m. Thursday in the parking lot of a business on Main Street, near 13th Street.

According to a news release sent Thursday, the officer reported seeing 83-year-old James Outland of Murray walk behind a red truck that was trying to back out of a parking space. The driver, 78-year-old John Higgins of Murray, didn’t see Outland, according to the officer, and so the truck hit Outland as Higgins was backing out.

Outland was taken to the Murray-Calloway County Hospital emergency room.
