Part of North Friendship Road in McCracken County was closed for a time Thursday evening after a wreck involving an SUV and a car. that injured two women.
The wreck happened on North Friendship Road and Garland Drive around 5;30 p.m. Thursday. McCracken County deputies say 38-year-old Amanda Wiersma of Paducah was driving an SUV southbound on North Friendship Road. Deputies say witnesses reported that Wiersma lost control of the SUV on a sharp curve in the road and side swiped a northbound car driven by 52-year-old Sandu Satnum of Florida.
Then, deputies say, Wiersma crossed into Northbound traffic and hit a car driven by 26-year-old Kristen Bickerstaff of Paducah. When that happened, Wiersma was thrown from her vehicle, because deputies say she wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
Wiersma was injured, but not incapacitated, and she was taken to a local hospital. Bickerstaff was taken to a hospital as well, and deputies say her injuries were not incapacitating either.
Wiersma was cited on a charge of driving under the influence, and released at the hospital because of her injuries. Deputies say further charges are expected.
