Kentucky inmate in Eddyville taken to Louisville hospital after assault

The Kentucky Department of Corrections says an inmate in Eddyville had to be taken to a Louisville hospital after he was assaulted by another inmate on Thursday.

The DOC says Ike Williams was assaulted a little before 9 a.m. Thursday in 3 Cell House Restrictive Housing Unit of Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville by David Thurman.

Williams was taken to Caldwell County Hospital, and had to be transferred to the University of Louisville Hospital, according to the DOC. The Kentucky State Police is investigating the incident.
