Suspect sought in Herrin stabbing

Police are searching for a suspect in a stabbing in southern Illinois.

The Herrin Police Department says officers were called out to Cherry Street Pub just after 1 a.m. Friday, and found two men suffering from stab wounds. The two men — Carlos Vargas and Elder Vinicio Flores Barrios — are expected to recover. They were taken to a St. Louis hospital after the incident.

Police are looking for a man named Santos Espinoza in connection with the stabbing. Police say they do not have a picture of Espinoza available.

Investigators earlier referred to the incident as a knife fight, but now say it was a stabbing
