Pilgrim’s Pride says local plant not closing
A spokesperson for Pilgrim’s Pride say the Graves County, Kentucky plant is not closing.
Management has been working with members of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 227 on a new contract.
On Friday, union members rejected the latest proposed contract. Union representatives said they were eager to return to the negotiation table with the company.
On Monday, Pilgrim’s Pride responded with this statement:
We look forward to continuing discussions with the local union to reach a balanced agreement commensurate with the rights and benefits provided at other similar Pilgrim’s facilities. We are confident a resolution will be reached shortly without any disruption to the facility or the gainful employment opportunities afforded to our Pilgrim’s Mayfield team members.
