Motorcyclist airlifted after wreck involving truck in Graves County

A man had to be airlifted to a hospital after a wreck involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle in Graves County Wednesday, according to the local sheriff’s department.

Deputies say the wreck happened around 4:14 p.m. at the 18 mile marker of Julian Carroll Purchase Parkway southbound. A pickup truck driven by 69-year-old Joann Pharis of Clinton, Kentucky, was headed southbound in the right hand lane when, according to deputies, she tried to make an illegal U-turn and crossed into the path of a motorcycle that was in the left hand lane.

The motorcycle driver, 48-year-old Jeffrey Wright of Wingo, Kentucky, was airlifted by Air Evac to Tristar Skyline Medical Center. Deputies say Pharis and a passenger in her truck were not hurt and did not seek medical treatment at the scene of the wreck.
