Merryman House to close on new location Monday
A date has been set for the Merryman House Domestic Crisis Center to close on a new location.
On Monday at 3:00 p.m., Merryman House will close on the pending purchase of the old McCracken County Board of Education campus on Berger Road.
Merryman House is buying the property from the McCracken County School Board for $1.5 million.
The campus consists of 8 buildings on approximately 26 acres. Merryman House will use five buildings on the campus, and a substance abuse treatment center will use the remaining three.
Once the property is closed upon, Merryman House will work on raising money to renovate the buildings.
The first renovations will be on the emergency shelter, the outreach buildings and an administration building. It could be nine months to a year before those renovations are complete.
The new emergency shelter will have 36 beds, an increase from the 24 beds the Merryman House currently has.
