Two arrested on drug charges during traffic stop

Two people were arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop on Interstate 24 Thursday night.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department says a deputy saw a car traveling exceptionally slow near the six mile marker on I-24 around 11:24 p.m.

The deputy pulled the car over and saw in plain sight a baggy of what appeared to be methamphetamine.

The deputy had the driver 37-year-old Anthony Perrotta of Paducah, and his two passengers, 29-year-old Davie Leach of Paducah and 50-year-old Sunnie Leach of Benton, Kentucky, step out of car.

An investigation revealed that Perrotta had given a glass smoking pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue and a bottle of Adderall to Davie Leach when he realized he was being pulled over.

The deputy also found brass knuckles concealed next to the driver’s seat.

Perrotta was determined to be under the influence of numerous substances, including methamphetamine and prescription medication.

He and Davie Leach were arrested. After being transported to the McCracken County Regional Jail, deputy jailers found synthetic marijuana concealed on Perrotta’s person.
