Southeast Missouri couple killed in Florida crash, 2 children survive

The Florida Highway Patrol says two parents from Leadwood, Missouri were killed in a crash Sunday afternoon in Volusia County.  Their two children survived and were taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital, according to NBC affiliate WESH-TV.

WESH says the driver of a Ford Focus, Charles King, of New London, North Carolina, was driving eastbound on I-4.  For unknown reasons, he drifted into the left-hand lane and hit a car, causing it to leave the interstate and hit a tree.

FHP says Greg Moyers and his wife Sarah Moyers, from Leadwood, Missouri died at the scene.  Their two daughters, ages 8 and 13, were taken to the hospital. 

WESH-TV says the 8 year-old is in critical condition.  The 13 year-old is in serious condition.  Charges are pending, according to FHP.

A family friend of the Moyers tells Local 6’s Robert Bradfield the family was on vacation in Orlando and was preparing to return to southeast Missouri Monday.
