Police warn of possible 911 service interruption in southeast Missouri
Sikeston, Missouri, police say they want to warn you of a possible interruption of 911 services in southeast Missouri.
The Sikeston Department of Public Safety says it was informed Monday that the St. Louis area is experiencing call failures because of a damaged fiber optic line in the region. Police say that’s causing an interruption in phone services and could cause an interruption to 911 services in Scott, Butler, Dunklin and Stoddard counties.
Police say they don’t know how long services will be diminished, but Verizon Wireless and local exchange carrier personnel are working to restore service.
Sikeston DPS says if you call 911 and can’t get through, call the DPS directly at 573-471-4711.
Police say they will release an update when services are back to normal.
