Three-week trial set for Fleming Furniture owner Danny Kelley

A three-week trial is set for Fleming Furniture owner Danny Kelley.

On Monday in court, Judge Tim Kaltenbach set trial dates for Aug. 7 through Aug. 28 of 2017. Kelley faces 12 felony charges. He’s accused of taking payments from customers but never ordering their furniture. Kelley’s attorneys met with the prosecutors last week to try resolve the case, but couldn’t come to an agreement.

"We can’t discuss any particulars of the conversations that have been had in this, or any case for that matter. You know, as always, if we can find a way to mutually resolve a case, that’s fine. But we’re not going to disclose any specifics in this case or any other," said Joe Roark, the attorney representing Kelley on Monday.

All of the customers listed in the criminal case have been paid back, but Kelley is now almost $2 million in debt.

We wish to be transparent in our reporting, Kelley’s company Kelley-Wiggins Furniture owes a significant amount of money to our parent company Paxton Media Group. We have turned these unpaid advertising bills over to a collector.
