New charges made against Murray man arrested on firearms charges

UPDATE: KSP filed new charges against Powers.  Troopers obtained a warrant for the arrest of Powers for the charges of rape, sodomy, incest and tampering with physical evidence. 
 
Powers was out on bond for previous charges of trafficking marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, 18 counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and 8 counts of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.  Powers was arrested Friday.

ORIGINAL STORY:  State police announced additional charges Tuesday against a Murray man who was arrested on felony firearms charges the day before. 

Kentucky State Police Post 1 said Monday that 48-year-old Ray Powers was charged with 18 counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and eight counts of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Among the guns troopers seized, they said they also found body armor, ammunition and "explosives paraphernalia." 

On Tuesday, KSP announced that Powers now also faces drug charges, including marijuana trafficking, marijuana possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Powers remains in Calloway County Jail.
