Ligon returns to Carlisle County, pleads not guilty in circuit court

Martha Ligon — accused of shooting and killing her husband Ray Ligon, shooting Shane Courtney in the shoulder, and shooting at two others — is back in Carlisle County.

Ligon was sent to the Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center for mental evaluation. She has spent more than one month in custody there.

In Carlisle County Circuit Court, Ligon plead not guilty. She indicated to Judge Langford that she would be hiring a private attorney. Her pre-trial conference is scheduled for October 20th. The public defender representing Ligon currently says she believes a mental status report will be reviewed by that time.
