Two people die in crash on McCracken County road

Two people died in a crash in the area of McKendree Church Road and Childress Road in McCracken County Sunday morning.

Deputies were called to the area around 11:47am.  They say an SUV was south on McKendree Church Road and upon cresting the hill at the intersection of McKendree Church Road and Childress Road, the SUV entered into the oncoming lane of traffic. 

The driver over-corrected causing the SUV to veer off the right side of the road, hitting a tree.

The driver and the front seat passenger died from their injuries.  Their names have not been released.

The road was closed for several hours.  It is now back open.
