Fewer Kentucky small businesses offering employees health insurance

Fewer Kentucky small businesses are offering health insurance to their employees.

According to the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky, just 26.6% of small businesses included benefits last year, dropping from 36.4% in 2012.

Small business were categorized as having 50 or fewer employees.

In comparison, 98.3% of Kentucky businesses with 50 or more employees offered health insurance in 2015.

When looking at all private employers in Kentucky, the percentage that offered health insurance dropped 6.6% from 2012 to 2015, from 54.4% to 47.8%.
