KSP investigating rollover crash in Lyon County

An investigation is ongoing in a rollover crash in Lyon County.

The crash happened on Interstate 24 at the 46 mile marker near Kuttawa around 1:53 p.m. Thursday.

Kentucky State Police say a trooper was conducting a traffic stop when the crash occurred.

Troopers say 76-year-old Emilie Allen of Bloomingdale, Illinois was driving east in the right-hand lane of Interstate 24 and did not see that other cars in front of her were slowing down for the ongoing traffic stop.

When Allen finally saw cars slowing down, she put on her brakes in an attempt to avoid hitting the car in front of her.

That caused her car to go into a slide. Her car then went off the road and into the median before rolling three times and stopping upright on all four tires.

Allen and her passenger, 78-year-old Willard Allen of Bloomington, Illinois, were both wearing their seat belts. Both of them had minor injuries and refused to be taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.
