2-vehicle wreck on U.S. 68 injures one

A man had to be taken to a local hospital after a two-car wreck at the intersection of U.S. 68 and the Interstate 24 Exit 16 off ramp on Friday, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies say 59 year old Harry Thurby of Paducah was driving eastbound on U.S. 68 when 23-year-old Jennifer Landry Ward of Calvert City crossed into his path. Deputies say she was attempting to cross the eastbound lanes of U.S. 68 as she was exiting I-24 at the exit 16 off ramp.

Thurby was unable to avoid the collision with Ward, according to the sheriff’s department. He was taken to Lourdes hospital in Paducah for injuries deputies describe as non-incapacitating.

In addition to deputies, the Reidland-Farley Fire Department and Mercy Regional EMS assisted at the scene.
